Therapeutic Description: Cytostatics
Category: Taxane.
Pregnancy: Contraindicated in pregnancy.
Lactation: Contraindicated or not recommended.
Contraindications: Neutrophils less than 1.5x109 per litre. Severe hepatic impairment.
Precautions: Monitor blood counts. Cardiac conduction abnormalities, peripheral neuropathy, renal or hepatic failure. Ensure resuscitation equipment available.

Adults: IV: Ovary Carcinoma: Previously Untreated: 175 mg/m² over 3 hours or 135 mg/m² over 24 hours every 3 weeks. Treated: 135-175 mg/m² over 3 hours every 3 weeks.
Breast Cancer: 175 mg/m² over 3
IV inf: The concentrate must be diluted to a final Paclitaxel conc of 0.3 to 1.2 mg/mL in D5W, NS, D5NS. Administration over 3 hours is often recommended.
Myelosuppression, peripheral neuropathy, alopecia, arthralgia, myalgia, hypotension, bradycardia, GI disturbances, elevations in liver function tests, oedema. Rarely hypersensitivity reactions, cardiovascular conduction abnormalities.
